Large-scale Moscow's Attacks Cut Power In Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have led to power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and encountered interruptions to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a young boy was killed in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, as reported by area administrators.

Russian forces has increased strikes on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but decisive action - from the America, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and applying penalties," was stated in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 projectiles attacked energy facilities, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes struck electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, according to municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region experienced heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child lost their life and multiple civilians were hurt.

The assaults follow nights of aerial attacks in the area, parts of which remain under the control of invading troops.

All of Ukraine is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to detect.

Authorities told journalists that Russia was intentionally trying to damage the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already impacting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and government agencies were bracing for additional strikes.
